Challenge: Build a TV studio for production of University events in a confined space, with limited ventilation, in time for the Fall 2008 semester.
Solution: Construct a full HD Broadcast Center with automated camera controls, “green energy” LED lighting, audio recording facilities, audio mixing facilities, and video editing systems.
Results: A state-of-the-art facility for video production which can broadcast throughout the campus and across the nation.
Organization
Founded in 1746, Princeton University is one of the 8 Ivy League schools and one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the United States. Princeton University educates over 7,500 students in graduate and post-graduate studies.
Cameras
Three Panasonic HC1500C cameras power the video acquisition of the Princeton University Broadcast Center Studio. All cameras can be manned remotely via Telemetrics Robotic Camera Controls or manually with attached zoom/pan controls and on-camera Marshall preview monitors.
Lighting
In an effort to reduce heat emission and power consumption, the studio is outfitted with “Green Energy” LED lighting panels. Over 20 lighting fixtures illuminate the studio, all adjusted from a console in the master control room.
Display and Green Screen
A 65” Sharp LCD resides on the studio’s stage area, providing content from the control room for talent to reference. The walls of the studio are draped with green or blue curtains, allowing chroma-key effects to be added during production.
